The boats are prepped, the gear is rigged, and the tuna are waiting! We are thrilled to welcome back the 21st Annual Oregon Tuna Classic (OTC) to the Port of Garibaldi on August 14th and 15th, 2026.
Whether you’re an angler hitting the open water or a local looking for a great time on the docks, this world-class tournament is one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer. Even better? It’s all for an incredible cause.
Fishing for a Great Cause
The Oregon Tuna Classic isn’t just about bragging rights (though qualifying for the Offshore World Championships is a pretty huge deal!). This event is a powerful community fundraiser.
For 21 years, anglers have come together to help fight hunger in our communities. The tournament directly benefits the Oregon Food Bank by providing them with fresh, locally caught fish to distribute to communities in need. Furthermore, monetary proceeds from the event are shared between the Oregon Food Bank and Ducks Unlimited to support ongoing conservation efforts.
The Weekend Schedule
Big Fish Friday (August 14th) The action kicks off on Friday! This is an additional day of fun for teams who want to pre-fish, “tune up” for the main event, scout the waters, and enjoy a little extra friendly competition before Saturday.
The Main Tournament (Saturday, August 15th) Saturday is the big show.
- 6:30 AM: Shotgun Start (coordinates provided at the Captain’s Meeting)
- 3:00 PM: Fish Check-in Begins
- 5:00 PM: All boats must be across the finish line!
- 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Awards Dinner, BBQ, and Auction in the main tent.
The top five biggest fish will take home serious cash, with 1st Prize scoring $6,000, 2nd Prize taking $3,000, and 3rd Prize winning $1,000!

Registration for boat entries is officially closed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get in on the action!
The Awards Dinner on Saturday night is fully open to the public. We encourage everyone to head down to the main tent to join the fun, whether you competed or not. You can purchase dinner tickets, buy raffle tickets for a chance to win fantastic prizes, and participate in the live auction.
NEW FOR 2026: The OTC Calcutta! Want a reason to root for a specific boat? New this year is the OTC Calcutta, where you can actually bid on a team (or teams) to win the tournament! Whether you want to bid on yourself or just want a stake in the action from the docks, you can sign up for these special side pots and see the team rosters online.
Important Note for Anglers Regarding Fish Processing
Due to challenges with getting tuna processed this year, the tournament will only be accepting the fish weighed in to be processed and delivered to the Food Bank.
Unfortunately, the event does not have the capacity to handle additional donated fish as in years past. Captain’s Corner will not be able to offload and process additional fish on Friday or Saturday. Please make your own arrangements to handle any extra fish, and ensure all fish are off your boat on Friday so you are ready for the tournament on Saturday!
